Being Willing and Obedient to God
Many people desire the Will of God to be fulfilled in their lives, but many are not willing to obey God when He gives instructions to do a certain thing or things. We say, “Yes Lord, I’ll do Your Will but let me tell you how I want to do Your Will.” So we find ourselves in prayer, praying the same thing over and over as though God is not speaking. God is speaking and has spoken; however, sometimes it may not be what we want to hear because of fear God will change our plans, and yes, He will change it if it doesn’t line up with His plan for our lives. We have to line our agenda with God’s agenda, for “our thoughts are not God’s thoughts and our ways are not His ways, and His way is the best way because it’s His Will.” When we’re willing and obedient, we shall eat the good of the land (Isaiah1:19).

We can avoid the pit falls in our lives if we hearken unto the voice of the Lord and obey Him. We have to be ready to act gladly without any grudges when God gives us instructions to do something. When God told Abraham to take his only son Isaac and offer him up for a burnt offering, Abraham didn’t wait around wondering if it was God or not. Abraham got up and began to move in action. He didn’t go around asking his cousin Lot or other people, “Do you think God want me to do this or that?” Abraham trusted the voice of the Lord. When we’re in obedience to God, we have to be in submission to Him and then express that submission in actions. To be obedient is to be in agreement with God. James 1:22-25 says: “For if a person just listens and doesn’t obey, he is like a man looking at his face in a mirror; as soon as he walks away, he can’t see himself any more or remember what he looks like.” Then he says: “But if anyone keeps looking steadily into God’s law (the Word) for free men, he will not only remember it but he will do what it says and God will greatly bless him in everything he does.” Jesus walked in obedience when He offered His life for you and me, and as a result God gave Him all power and authority. We should want to obey God and please Him in every area of our lives. He said if you love me you will keep my commandments. Whatever God has called you to do, know that Christ will strengthen you to do His Will. It will be Christ who strengthens you; not man nor your own ability. It’s His Will; therefore, God will provide you the strength to do His Will. God will not call you to do something and not give you the strength to do it. Disobedience can bring the storms in your life or even possibly cost you your life. So harden no your heart and obey the voice of God today!
